When do I upgrade my Nikon D40?

So many new models have been released by Nikon recently. My friend is using the Nikon D60 and boasting how nice her pictures are compared to mine. It does pissed me but I do not wish to argue with people like her. So, I just let her win all the time but at the same time, avoid meeting her anymore.
Sometimes, it is not the camera models but rather the photographer. Anyway, I am not making that much money from my work lately so I cannot afford to splurge on a bigger camera than hers. You know, like keeping up with the Jones kinda mentality. I for one, do not buy anything that I cannot afford. Unlike some people, they can use their credit cards and sign away so that they have something greater than others.
I personally do not like the idea. So, those low interest credit card and their offerings of freebies and such do not tempt me. However, some people who like the idea, they may want to check out this site to compare credit cards and also to see which are the best pre-paid debit cards available on the market.
Meanwhile, I shall just humbly stay with my Nikon D40 until I have mastered the art of photography. Or wait till someone donates me his D3 which he never use.
