Sony Cyber-shot defects

25 Nov

I read from dpreview about “Sony discovers defect in some models”.

dpreview provided a link to Sony which is in Japanese. I decided to test out Babelfish Alta Vista. In case you haven’t heard of Babelfish, they can translate a lot of languages into English. But of course, the translated version is not very accurate but usually, I can get a gist of what is said.

So, here is the translation from Sony, the original of which is in Japanese. Read at your own risk, ok?

From always, you to regularly use the SONY product, thank you truly. At our company 2005 October, placing on the product of the part which loads our company make image pickup element, at the time of camera photographing it occurred “the picture does not appear to the finder and the liquid crystal indicatory department, it cannot photograph, in regard to the condition that the picture is disordered”, to extend our company stipulated guarantee period, being able to point to gratuitousness repair, you could point to the guide which it receives. This each time, mainly we verified that it has the possibility other than the product which presently has been dealt with in hot much moisture area, similar condition occurring with 8 products below. Therefore, it extends our company stipulated guarantee period, can point to gratuitousness repair and receives, the guide of object product addition is said. Does applying inconvenience and annoyance, we apologize the object product to the customer of use. This is what I picked up from dpreview:

Sony Corp has today announced that it has discovered a defect in eight of its Cyber-shot models. The cameras affected were sold between September 2003 and January 2005, they are the DSC-F88, DSC-M1, DSC-T1, DSC-T11, DSC-T3, DSC-T33, DSC-U40 and DSC-U50.

And Sony Malaysia has a site which I found after I Googled ‘Sony camera malaysia‘. Sony may want their webmaster to tweak their site a bit because when someone google with that keywords, they stumbled on the support page which listed all the products defects and such. Not a very good representation of a company, you know? If I am a potential customer and found that page, I will think twice.
