SanDisk 1GB SD card gives me nothing but inconveniences

08 Sep

I just bought the SanDisk 1GB SD card recently and it has given me lots and lots of inconveniences due to the loose ‘lock’. It is extremely frustrating to find the message ‘Memory card locked’ when one is just about to snap that ‘one in a million’ moment. It is also very annoying to find the card locked when I inserted it into my card reader/laptop. Sometimes, in my haste, I pulled out the memory card before I turn off the camera which will not be good for my camera, in the long run.

I had used Ridata 512MB SD card for more than a year with absolutely no problem because the tiny lock is not protruding like SanDisk. Unfortunately, my Ridata SD card was accidentally bended by my son and the plastic covering is chipped. However, the card is still working as Ridata has a lifetime warranty for its circuit.  However,  I did not want to use it as often as I am afraid the chipped part may scratch my camera internal parts.
Now, every time I want to insert the SanDisk SD card into my camera, I have to make a mental note to put it in ever so slowly so that the lock is not accidentally pushed to the locked position.

Therefore, folks, you have been warned. Avoid SanDisk eventhough it is much cheaper. Bah!  I cannot even find a local office to lodge my complain as they only serve the surrounding regions but not Malaysia (I have checked the website).

krisz – Oh really? I use the card reader so I remove them often.

Neo – Cannot wor ‘cos the little tip is very tiny and the slot has no more space for a tape.

I’d say, cut that little tip off carefully. I’ve only used Toshiba, Kingston, and Canon cards. So far so good.
