Rechargeable batteries driving me insane

Recently, my batch of rechargeable AA batteries have been giving me problems. I am not sure if it is due to the camera we are using now. Previously, I have two sets and they lasted me for years. But after being used on the newer camera, all of them fizzle out. It is frustrating to keep recharging them. And I am like some mad scientist in a laboratory, measuring the voltage or wattage (never can tell the difference :P) all day to see which battery is still working.
After these lessons, the next time I to buy a camera, I am going to make sure it uses lithium-ion battery. Though those are more expensive, they are preferable because they last longer and are lighter.

Depending on how you charge it, together with your charging tempreture. These will make sure your battery last longer. Not to mention, batteries have a shelf life too!
