Penang bridge at dusk
by Lilian ·
The most welcoming sight after a long road trip is the Penang bridge. If we have been away for more than a week, it is so welcoming to be traveling on the bridge. It is home, finally.
The below bunch of photos are taken with my son’s Pentax M20 which is a very cheap point and shoot camera. It takes decent photos of sceneries, dark places and great macro and super macro shots of foods. The only problem is it has too much red tint and skin tone looks bad with it. Otherwise, for RM700 and less, it is not bad.
Note that you cannot stop at the bridge to take photos. You may cause fatal accidents or you probably end up mince meat yourself because traffic is very heavy on the bridge. Otherwise, people may stopped and tried to coax you from jumping because the bridge is a favourite haunt for those who wants to commit suicide. Remember to leave your shoes before jumping, ok?
All my photos were taken from a moving car. I just wound down the window, put my hands out and snap. Again, don’t risk it. You may lose a hand or even worse, your camera. (hand is free, camera costs money
)
Penang signature icon. The Penang bridge. Talking about bridge, I don’t know what’s so great about bridges. When I was in Melbourne (or is it Sydney?), this tour bus took us TWO rounds across the bridge and told history of the bridge. Yawns…..When I was in HK, the same thing happens. Yawnsss..
Traffic on the bridge is a bitch now due to the works done.
As I said, whenever we got home from outstation trips, seeing the Penang bridge is like seeing char koay teow, nasi kandar, bestest foods around and it never fails to make me happy that I am home.

I can’t believe you took those from your moving car! You have to admit that those pillars on the Penang bridge (in the 3rd picture) are pretty cool.
