Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7 Digital Camera

27 Apr

Boo_licious mentioned about her intention to get the above camera. It got me curious and I thumbed through Digital Camera Magazine (Malaysia) and found it featured. So, Boo, do grab a copy of the mag and read to your heart’s content!

Boo said some people’s comments about ‘noise’. What is noise? It is those grainy spots that you see on photos when you enlarge it. Say, it is like dust? (this is my own layman term of explanation)
Here’s what Mark Harris wrote in the April issue of the mag:

Nestling among the various potrait, beach and landscape mode is High Sensitivity. This boosts the usual ISO 400 maximum to either 800 or 1600 and cleverly, also incorporates noise reduction, creating images that are lively and impressively grain-free….

Frankly, unless we are printing huge prints of the photos, I don’t bother so much about these noise and whatnots.

This model has received good reviews and price wise, is comparable to the below two models:

  • Sony Cyber-shot H1 – Price RM1,699
  • Kodak P850 – Price RM1,899

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 is priced at RM1,799

Other stuffs I picked up from the net:

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 – Stabilizer and Shutter speed – MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer), that Panasonic thinks it indispensable for all digital cameras, is subsumed under Lumix all line-up. Now this hand-shake correction system, which accompanies no deterioration of image quality, is appreciated by the users of the world and positively getting to be the standard of digital camera photography. Every slight hand-shake movement is detected accurately with the sampling frequency at 4,000 times per second and will be compensated to render clear, sharp images.

Remember – if you are buying camera, always find one with Image Stabiliser because you do not want blurry photos.

Great choice, Boo!  Looks forward to super sharp food pics from you.

Kris – yr pixs are beautiful.

Thxs for the review, will go pick up a copy of the mag. We’re still deciding between the H2 and the Lumix – plan to do the print test to decide. I actually want the Sony H5 but Sony Malaysia cannot confirm to me when the new shipment will come in.
