Night shots of Penang Pier taken with Nikon D40
by Lilian ·
Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 2 sec (2)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 44 mm
ISO Speed: 400
We were at the Church Street Pier where all the yachts are. (gee, it is so hard to spell yachts) Sometime last year, we had taken some photos during the day. This time, took the night scenes. Currently, I have not tripod. The only tripod I have seem too flimsy and looks like it will topple under the weight of my 18-200mm VR lens which weights a ton. So, until I have money to buy a better one, we (i.e. my husband and I) just plonked the camera on some railings and use the timer.
Those bright lights are the Butterworth port cranes used to load the containers from the ships.
Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 1 sec (1)
Aperture: f/7.1
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 400
I still have a lot to learn. I have problem understanding the timing and the numbers I see. LOL, my hubby is ready to jump into the sea because I cannot tell between 1/20s, 2 sec, 1/200s. The only way I know is to see if the picture is totally black (due to too fast shutter speed, 1/20s) or I will be screaming - Eh, why never ‘thiak’ wan (’cos two seconds is a long time for the shutter to close). Heh, I guess I will remain the dumb blonde aka stewpig ahlian and leave the more challenging shots to the husband. I think the two photos above were taken by him. Both of us took some each but I cannot remember which is taken by who.
I have whole album over at my Flickr site title Penang Pier.
