Merdeka – Time for shooting fireworks, crowds and some politicians

Time for shooting fireworks, crowds and some politicians – ;)

I don’t think I am going to any Merdeka celebration in the public park this year because I have duty in church tomorrow night.  (gosh I forget that the countdown is tonight and not tomorrow night) So, what I am going to do is to put up some of the photos I shot last year.

The large crowds sitting on the field in Esplanade Penang. If you look hard enough, you can see my kids looking bored during the speeches. Everyone is just waiting for one thing. No…not the singing of the patriotic songs, not the cheers of Merdeka but…

This. This is the reason why huge crowds throng to Merdeka celebration. So, if you wish to capture shots of fireworks, be there as most Merdeka celebrations have fireworks. I have posted a piece on ‘How to take photos of fireworks before’. Yet, I am still getting lousy photos each time. :)

Each time I joined in the Merdeka countdown in Esplanade, all I get is the feelings of gratitude that once upon a time, the British had set foot and build these magnificient buildings and also set up good education, law, road, water, electricity systems and other infrastructures. Hehehehe, that does sort of go against the meaning of independence, right? But how can we overlook the contributions of them?

I hope each and every Malaysians will feel the pride of being independent and strive to make a better Malaysia than our colonial times. Remember the struggles and hard works put in by our forefathers to achieve independence. Then, probably, we will stand with pride and sing Negaraku from the bottom of our hearts. I know I will because when I am in church, we will sing Negaraku too. And the most meaningful verse is ‘Tuhan kurniakan…’ asking for God’s blessings for a peaceful and harmonious country.

Selamat menyambut Hari Merdeka yang ke empat puluh sembilan dari Digital Photo Tips!
