I had been out lately and there are many cameras snapping around etc. But I discovered how little the owners know about their cameras and how under utilised their expensive cameras are.
Seriously, the camera manufacturers should target these rich people who have no time to learn to use their cameras, check the menu button, recognise the various symbols and give them one or two big buttons and that’s that. Or maybe they can make talking cameras like “This is the video mode. If you want to take photos, you need to press the green button. If you want to take a video, you have to press the purple button. If you wish to switch off the camera, you have to press the red button.”
And that will be sufficient. 
I do get very frustrated to see a RM2K camera in the hand of a person who can’t tell if she is taking video or photos! And she thought that if the memory stick is full, all she need is to buy another memory stick that costs over RM300! Good Lord, I think I must run a class just for these wonderful ladies. I am sure they are rich enough to sponsor me a new Nikon D80 after a few lessons.
Look, I am not making fun of them but what I want to say is – Young people, be nice to your parents. Take time to sit down and teach them how to use the camera. They love having their photos taken and you will be doing them a great favour to fulfil this need. And camera manufacturers, maybe you can make some really simple, two buttons cameras for these rich retirees who can afford to travel the world round and round. I am sure they wouldn’t mind paying a big sum of money for something that suits their needs.

*smacks terence* Type wrongly, cannot ah? Cos this cilaka Sony memory sticks dem expensive. Am buying for my son’s Sony Ericsson phone. But really lor, dun buy Sony cos their memory cards and stuffs all so expensive wan, hor?
maR – I don’t know about your place but over here, the shops normally don’t very fancy pushing Canon cameras. Maybe it is because their commissions are lower or what but if I open my mouth for Canon cameras, at least three shops have told me to find other brands. So, I can’t comment about that because I didn’t even get as far as taking a camera from their shelves to play with it. LOL. But I have tested Fuji Finepix prosumer cameras though.
