Good lord! It must be hard to be a reporter/photographer
by Lilian ·
Out of curiousity, I went to the press conference held by the CM-designate of Penang. A friend told us to join him and since both hubby and I were so hype up over the landslide win in the election, we headed over there.
I have never seen that many photographers in one place before. There are reporters from the local news and even Reuters. They swarmed the incoming Member of Parliament and Assemblymen like a pack of flies on a piece of meat.
Some of them climb over tables and chairs to get their best angles. Most of them are men but there are a few women photographers who are just as agile. I notice they wear almost the same style. They will have their vest with so many pockets to fit their lenses and hoods. Then, loose pants which I believe helps if they need to climb over fences and walls. In fact, you know a photographer when you see one from the fashion they wear. Dull, boring, brown, blue, black but functionable.
I wonder why they tend to be casual most of the time? Maybe they should get some Cavender’s cowboy hats to give them a more unique look instead of their caps? And I wonder why they like to wear caps? Maybe those huge rim of the cowboy hats or caps help to shield the lights? Or it is just another boring uniform?
