Floral Fest – good time for photobugs

26 May

There is an International Floral Fest starting May 28th till June 4th. Full details in MalaysiaBest Blog.

If you like photography, you will like this event because you can test your composition skills and macro shots. Flowers can be dull static objects or nature’s beauties, depending on your skills.

I found these galleries of breath-taking photos of an otherwise, mundane looking flowers which had turned into beauties under the photographer’s hands. Please check out the gallery by Erina & Johathan. LOL, I took the very same flowers at the Floral Fest last year and *hangs head in shame* my flowers just look like flowers. Not more, not less. But the photos by Erina & Jonathan is really, really, really beautiful! They use:

Konica-Minolta Maxxum 7 Digital ,Minolta 50MM F2.8 Macro

Heh, I will console myself that I only use a 1.3MP Canon Powershot A10 because my Konica-Minolta Z3 was broken last year. And though I own a Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5 Digital, I cannot afford to buy the macro lense. *soothes own self* :)

See this orchid with a little snail on it by Erina & Jonathan. And this is the same flower I shot:

BTW, the fest is open till 9.30 pm and they have lanterns there. So, bring your tripod and shoot some night scenes. But ermm…I can tell you that it can be frustrating because there will be loads of people taking cheesy pics of ‘standing next to flower, looking cute, giving peace signs’.

Have a good weekend to all!
