I almost bought the Tamron SP AF90mm F/2.8 Di Macro 1:1

yesterday during the camera fair. It goes for RM1,1++. However, I didn’t bring my Konica-Minolta 5D and only tested on the Sony Alpha. BTW, the Sony Alpha with its eye sensor or that thingamajie where the camera focus base on what your eye focus freaks me(i.e. what you eye is looking at). The lense went crazy LOL jutting in and out so frantically at first because I didn’t know that. I was wondering why I can’t seem to focus and press the shutter release button. Duh!
Anyway, I will most probably grab the Tamron as a treat for my birthday or an heirloom for my kids. The original Sony Alpha Macro lense goes from RM3,400 and the cheapest I could get was RM2,900.

I found this thread on Flickr related to macro lense. The Tamron is highly recommended by the Flickr members. ShaolinTiger too mentioned this:
ShaolinTiger – You should check out how much the Tamron Di 90mm Macro lens is, and if they have it with your mount as that’s the most capable and affordable macro lens around.
Another discussion thread is found here at pbase. Above photo sourced from Tamron website.
There aren’t that many shops here in Penang that carry stocks of lenses that fits my Konica-Minolta 5D (and also Sony Alpha). We had asked around several of the specialised shops and they said they need to order from KL. So, most probably, we will go back this evening and have a closer look at the lense again. *keeping my fingers crossed*
