Acobay sounds like echobay

20 Feb

Acobay is a brand new and unique social network site.
My friend knows I am hooked to my social networking group and told me about this service call Acobay. I went, “HUH? echo bay?” She joined recently and urged me to follow her so that we can keep each other updated.

From the look of it, the site is like Facebook with Ebay thrown in. Sometimes, it is useful to be connected this way because we can get the opinions on a product from other unbiased, real users. Like for a movie review, we can sometimes get all sorts of contradicting feedback from people. So, with these network of people, we can actually gain more info.

If you have plenty of time to spend online, do check out the service. People who likes book can find a section for book review. And if you are looking for cameras, you may find some users there to guide you too.

Video filming course

20 Feb

DSCF0003

This February month has been most hectic to me because I am currently taking the course on citizen journalism which includes writing and also video filming and editing.

The course is held on weekends and the time is from 9am to 5 pm. Usually, on Saturday evenings, we have assignments to complete and submit on Sunday morning.

Last week was video filming and I had a fantastic time listening to the sifu of video filming, Mr. Teoh. He formerly works in the Government TV station and now, he imparts all the skills to us.

Now, I begin to see TV documentaries and news differently and sometimes, I am over critical! I no longer see news as news but composition, lighting, framing, panning, floating.. bla bla bla. VLS, CU, etc etc.

Times are bad

11 Feb

The guy at the camera shop told me that the signs of bad times are when less people rush for the latest models of cameras. Previously, in better times people will hit the stores the moment a new camera model is released.

Now, the momentum is much slower. People do not shop as much anymore and many depend on their credit cards for bigger purchases. However, smart shoppers will look for low interest credit card to avoid getting too much into debts.

With so many cards out there, it is hard to compare credit cards. Zero Interest Credit Card sounds like a good idea but as always check the fine prints and know what is the deal before committing.

Email marketing for promotion

04 Feb

A lot of people have asked me if they can use the emails left on their blogs. I strongly discourage this because it is a matter of privacy. If one is serious about doing some promotion using email marketing, then, the best is to use the acceptable method, i.e. use an email software.

It is not difficult to get readers to sign up for email newsletter. All they need to do is to add a button to invite readers to sign up.

Though I am aware of the email marketing method, I have yet to try them out because it is rather tiring to keep a constant edition. I am not good with keeping to a schedule so I haven’t give this method a go.

Nintendo Wii

24 Jan

Another of my son is going to have his birthday soon. That means time to crack our heads on what to buy. Last year, he asked for a Nintendo Wii when it was launched in our country. However, we felt that the price was too steep and son was not old enough to handle a fragile piece of thing like the Wii controller.

This year, we are more comfortable with him fooling around with Nintendo Wii and wouldn’t mind giving him the nunchuk peripheral. However, he now says he want a better computer instead. So, we are back to shopping for something that we can afford and yet, like by the son.

The Nintendo Wii sounds like a good idea because every one of us can indulge in a game or two. Maybe I should get the Wii Fit for myself too.
