Bah! I hate lens shadow
by Lilian ·
One of the chore of getting a long lens is lens shadow. And the annoying part is I can’t afford an extended flash. So, when I wasn’t paying attention, the perfect shot will have that patch of dark shadow at the bottom of the photos.
It is so, so, so frustrating. It happens to both my new Nikon cameras. I cannot complain much with the D40 lens because it is a long lens being 18-200mm. However, I do have issues with the camera my son has. The P4 is excellent for every kind of shots and he enjoyed it tremendously because he likes to play with all the functions like time lapse photography and etc. But if I use it for macro shots, it will cause lens shadows most of the times.
It is so annoying I decided to ditch using the P4 for any close up shots and instead resort to the Pentax Optio M20. Frankly, the Pentax offer better supermacro shots. For half the price only.
Lesson learnt - Watch out for this the next time I buy a new camera.
