10 reason why I switch to Nikon cameras?
by Lilian ·
I haven’t have time to really check out all the features of the two new cameras we bought two days ago. Yeah, we bought not one but two cameras. A D40 and a P4. But the price of the cameras is not as expensive as the lens.
I will share my preview only after I have explore the new cameras features. Meantime, here are my ten reasons for ‘Why a Nikon’?
1) The cost of repair to my CF card reader in my Konica-Minolta Dynax will cost over RM1K if we take Sony’s original parts, RM700+ if not a Sony. Earlier the guy quoted wrongly and told me it is only RM385. So, we will be hunting for cheaper repairs. Hence, I have no more camera until God knows when.
2) I love Nikon almost true to skin-tone colours.
3) Nikon lens are plenty, if you can afford it, i.e. We bought one 18-200mm lens on top of the kit lens that come with the D40. The kit lens is 18-55mm. The lens costs around RM2.5K to RM2.7K, depends on how you negotiate (or how much they are ‘chopping’ you on the camera price)
4) Why a D40 and not D80?
Because I figure out, someday I want to be able to afford a D3 (coming soon, costing over RM15K kehkehkeh) and the D40 is just a stepping stone. That’s why I spent on the lens. The D40 is only RM2,080 with the 18-55mm lens. Very cheap and a very good buy.
5) I love Nikon yellow letterings on the strap? Every Nat Geo photographers carry one.
Yeah, foolish reason but heh, having a Nikon strap is wayyyyy cooler.
6) ‘Cos I can afford it with the numbers of paid posts that I had guiltily piled on my various blogs. Lens, inclusive.
Per month. Serious.
7) Ken Rockwell praised the D40 so much it is sinful not to listen to him.
I look much better in photos taken by a Nikon. No reddish skin tone anymore. No more, “Ma, you look like a grilled lobster.”
9) ‘Cos I have so many sons and if even one of them takes an interest in photography, all the lens will be our family heirlooms.
10) Because I can, I want and I must therefore, get it.
